Phone Rumor 20 yo OTTB

Rumor journied to the Rainbow Bridge in the summer of 2015. Her arthritic knees were just too painful and she was on too much medication without relief. We had a party to say goodbye where all the volunteers past and present came to give her a bath, carrots, apples, and grooming...

I was a winner on the track in my 8 starts. I also broke one of the bones in my right knee and it ended my career. I have a lasting reminder of it in the form of a screw that can't be removed. It causes me to have some pain now and then, but anti-inflammatories help me when needed.

After my racing career ended, I was used as a brood mare. Over time I was taken by a man who had a 501c3 rescue... but in actuality, he was a breeder. Any and all mares he took in were bred and bred and bred. Over time, he had too  many horses and not enough buyers.

We got less and less to eat until animal control came in and told our owner that he had to downsize. I was sent to a rescue in Orange County and they asked for help in taking in the 15 or more pregnant mares they expected. One of TEARS specialty is at risk pregnant mares and they said they would take 4 of us. One had the foal before she shipped and the man would not let them go, one died before shipping... lost the foal too, and TEARS came to get me and Little Lou. I was supposed to be sound and instantly rehomable. I was at TEARS for 3 weeks before it was obvious I was to be a sanctuary horse.

TEARS was so concerned that I have never been evaluated as a riding horse. Xrays reveiled the screw in my knee, and I was placed in with 2 other sanctuary mares my exact age. I still live with Diosa and have a job as an education horse.
