Karina Benish

Riding at 3, learned to ride a age 9 at Rawhide Ranch in Bonsall, CA, Karina has had a love of horses her entire life. When a new equestrian center opened near her home at age 14, she was retraining horses that gave people problems because she made a difference.

Acquiring her first horse by saving the mare from a trip to the slaughter truck, Karina retrained a vicious and angry mare into a safe and reliable mount for a beginner owner in a year. Her second horse Hawkeye is what started the road to TEARS.

Karina started as a Western rider. When Hawkeye came along, she needed assistance and the only instructor at Ft. Ord was a dressage rider. This was a life changing time and now every horse is trained in dressage even if it will be nothing but a trail horse. Dressage strengthens, supples, and keeps the horses young and fit.

With a master's degree in education, retired military, and as a registered veterinary technician, she is uniquely qualified to assess the physical and mental needs of the equines and people that make up a horse rescue and education program.
