Tearsong's Equine Athletes, Rescue, and Sanctuary
TEARS makes every effort understand what is going on with the horses in its care. We watch for personality quirks, behavioral oddities, injuries, mental status, training status, and ability. It is exteremely important to match a horse personality with the correct human and discipline. These horses have found that home. HOVER OVER AND CLICK ON THE PICTURE TO READ EACH HORSE'S STORY
Rescued from a rescuer, she was VERY pregnant, had a whole body skin infection, her feet hadn't been trimmed since before her original rescue, and she was 200 lb underweight. Rosie was placed twice and we are now sending a volunteer to check on her as she was given away to a rental string against the adoption contract rules they signed. We will determine if she needs to be removed or if she is doing well. Another contract will be signed if she is Ok.
Triton was rescued off the BLM sale in 4 inches of water during a heavy sleet storm in Ramona, CA. No one wanted the skinny and severely depressed outcast of his group. TEARS took him in, let him grow up, and trained him for trail riding. He found his forever home with a great couple who are about to move. We will miss our updates from our mutual farrier. We will ask for pix from his new place!
Patrick was a casualty of a throw away family who bought a flashier horse. Patrick is a schoolmaster hunter/jumper and after he recovered from a too strenuous show career and a whole body skin infections most severe in his tail, he was ridden by a handicapped gal before he found his place at the LA Equestrian Center riding program where he teaches young folks the ways of a hunter/jumper!
This gorgeous Andalusian had the most wonderful owner and ended up a casualty of the 2003 Cedar fires. His mom lost everything and had to move back to Belgium. Corsario was young and had just started training when he had to be put into pasture while his mom got settled. Transporting him to Belgium was not possible and he was trained in dressage at TEARS until a wonderful home with a competitive dressage rider was found for him.
Cuddles came to TEARS with a broken mind from pushing him too far too fast. After 4 years, his previous rescuer came and spent 15 minutes on him and declared him unadoptable from lack of training (he tried to buck her off). We refused to send him back with her. A couple of months later his forever family came to look. The gal rode him and he did not try one trick any of the times she came to ride. He adores her young kids and she rides him on trail 3-4 days a week!
Gracie came with Awesome and so overpowered him with her personality.... what our volunteers saw was a mare ready for a home! She was adopted by a wonderful gal who was willing to work through Gracie's inexperience on trail due to the extreme kindness of the mare. Gracie will live out her long life after the track in a loving forever home!
