Rosewood's McKayla 

11 yo 1/2 Grade Horse, 1/2 Shire

McKayla was started under saddle in the summer of 2015. As of March 30, 2016, she had 11 days under saddle and went to Boy Scout Camp with 18 days undr saddle. She is a very level headed horse and is a camp favorite... she's training scouts that have ZERO riding experence!

 

I was confiscated from my owner when my breeder and the farrier found a horrible wound on my back. I was taken to TEARS training facility for intensive antibiotic therapy, wound management, and a refeeding program. I had hair so long on my sides, my previous owner did not realize I was emaciated. I was only about 8 month old.

 

TEARS folks were really worried about my surviving the first week. I was really in bad shape. I recovered quite well and my owner came to learn how to properly care for me. I went back after 4 months at TEARS.

 

My owners came on financial hard times and I was taken back to TEARS where I will always have a home if needed. My owners didn't follow through with the months of treatment my old wound needed so I have a scar across my back.
