Ms. Leroy

Named changed to protect her diginty

Katherine the Great

On a VERY windy Santa Ana day... we went to pick this mare up from her "home". She was given to a family... pregnant. She had her colt.. who was still with her at a year and a half. She was underweight be 300 lb... because they didn't know they needed to feed the colt AND dam more food... all 3 of the families other horses were well fed...

Kate became a lesson horse until she let us know she was done. She permanently retired and was used to teach veterinary technician students, Girl Scouts, and anyone who was afraid or totally clueless around horses... how to do anything with her...

As the years progressed, her arthritis did too. We held a final party for her... to celebrate her life. She had 13 foals, raced and won several thousand dollars... and was a much loved companion. Our Secretary brought her 6 quarts of carrot juice for her final week of life.... she was terribly spoled until her death. We couldn't allow her one more painful winter.

Her passing was both joyfull and tearful. She was very special to our founder... and is still much loved. We will cherish our reunion at theRainbow Bridge.
